Serving In OUr World
Eastside believes that not only our church and our community are our mission field, but our World as well. For this reason we emphasize “Giving” to missions and “Going” on mission.
Eastside believes “Giving to Missions” is important! In our budget Eastside budgets a minimum of 10% of it annual budget toward missions activities, mission organizations such as The Greater Cleveland County Baptist Association, The Baptist State Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention as well as others. We consider the “Missions” section of our budget as our church’s tithe to the Lord.
In addition to our budgeted missions giving, we encourage and promote giving to both International Missions through the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, and North American Missions, which used to be called “Home Missions”, through the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering.
Just as much as “Giving”, Eastside believes we should be active “Going” on mission. Annually, Eastside promotes and participates in North American Missions as well as International Missions. Beginning in 2018, Eastside adopted a new church plant in Jeffersonville, IN and we have been active Giving and Going to assist River Ridge Church to become an established church. Over four of the past five years Eastside has sent a mission team for a week to work alongside of River Ridge and have seen the Lord move in tremendous ways. Furthermore,up until two years ago Eastside has been active in Greater Cleveland County sponsored mission trips to Nicaragua. Unrest in that country has prevent these trips for the last couple years so last year Eastside was a part of a team that went to Anchorage, Alaska on mission.
Because we believe Jesus commissioned us when He commissioned His disciples to “Go”, Eastside will strive to be active in missions around our world.
Matthew 28:18-20 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
